Jonny Nilsson Ice-skating marathon
The lakes and canals of the Bergslagen nature area are perfectly suited for ice- skating. In total the area has 65 km of prepared ice-skating slopes for you to enjoy!
The ice-skating Marathon is a yearly event (with distance- time measurement for the participators). This marathon is named after (and organised by) the famous Jonny Nilsson. He was Olympic Gold Medal winner in 1964 and world Champion Ice-skating.
There are possibilities to skate several distances.

SWEDISH RALLY:
The famous Swedish Rally is also a yearly event. It's a spectacular car race in the snow going through the entire area! It attracts hundreds of thousands spectators and millions are watching this race on TV.
The centre of the race is in Uddeholm, this is not far from the hotel.
Uddeholm Swedish Rally covers 340 kilometers of competitive distance in 20 special stages. At the finish on sunday afternoon the drivers and co-drivers will have covered a total of 1730 kilometers.
We advice you to book your hotel, rental car, flight etc. in time because of the big crowd that is expected.

Jonny Nilsson organises 'his' marathon since the year 2003. It's an Ice-skating tour/competition (with different distances to choose from) over the Bergslags canals and lakes between Karlskoga and his birth town Filipstad. This is the ice where Jonny used to skate himself in his youth. Every year there are hundreds and hundreds of participators from lots of countries (also from the Netherlands, England, Germany, Denmark etc.). Old friends like Fred Anton Maier, Knut Johannesen, Per Willy Guttormsen, Ivar Nilsson, Kees Verkerk, Örjan Sandler, Johnny Höglin, Göran Claeson, Tomas Gustafson and old-officials are present as well.
